DeArmoun Road Project - Introduction

The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) has completed design and construction of Phase 1 improvements from Westwind to East 140th Avenue.  Improvements to Phase 2 from East 140th Avenue to Hillside Drive have been outlined in the Final Design Study and a preferred alternative was selected.  This alternative recommended realigning reversing curves, widening the roadway, reducing steep grades, adding a pedestrian pathway and it involved acquisition of one home.

Further work on Phase 2 has been stopped due to the action of the AMATS (Anchorage Metropolitan Area Transportation Solutions) committee.  On March 27, 2006 the AMATS committee voted to remove DeArmoun Road (Phase 2) from the Draft Transportation Improvements Program (TIP).  This action removes funding for future work and effectively stops the project.  If and when AMATS reinstates funding, additional public involvement and scoping activities will be initiated.
